"Vigo’s mission is to scale access to rehabilitation treatment to stroke patients around the world."

— Co-founders Kristaps Krafte and Jānis Šlēziņš

Our Story

Kristaps Krafte, the founder of Vigo, was completing the Innovation in Health Care program in Copenhagen Business School when he found himself studying the effectiveness of stroke treatment. To his surprise, he discovered how inefficient stroke treatment organization was.

Janis Slezins, the Co-founder of Vigo, was working as a neurosurgeon in the UK, Portugal and Latvia, and witnessed the same problem everywhere. The acute lack of human resources and rehabilitation facilities made it difficult for stroke and head injury survivors to receive the necessary treatment in the right amount and timing.

It was clear to both that a new solution was needed. The goal was to solve the global issue of stroke treatment availability, such that each stroke survivor, of all age groups and nationalities, receives the treatment they need. When the two joined efforts, Vigo was born and the journey to make stroke rehabilitation radically accessible through digital technologies began.
